Can You Identify the Owner of a Crypto Wallet?
A public blockchain does not list the legal name behind an ordinary wallet. It shows addresses and the transfers between them. Investigators can sometimes relate an address to a known service, such as an exchange, or describe how the address behaved. The name of a private individual, when it is available at all, generally comes from records held by that service or from another lawful source. BNG SOFTWARE does not promise to identify a person.
What an address proves
An address is a pseudonymous identifier. Control of the key that can spend from it is not written next to the address. A transfer proves that value moved between addresses on that network. It does not prove why, and it does not prove who has the key today. Treating an address as a person is the single most common error in amateur tracing, and it is the error a careful report refuses to make.
What a known-service link is
Some addresses are publicly associated with a custodian, a bridge, or another service, or they behave in a way analysts recognise as consistent with one. A report should say how strong that association is. A link to an exchange is a lead toward records the exchange may hold. It is not those records, and it is not the exchange customer.
What can counsel actually put in front of a service or a court?
Counsel can be given a technical report that says which address received the funds, which transactions support that statement, and whether the address is associated with a known custodian or is only a candidate. If a name is required, the lawyer or the authority uses the procedure available in that place to seek records from the service. BNG SOFTWARE does not issue that request as if it were counsel, and it does not control the answer. The document itself is described in What Is a Blockchain Forensic Investigation Report?
Do not send a seed phrase, a private key, or a password.
For lawyers: ask for a report your team can review.

What can an investigator take from a wallet review?
An authority or a private investigator can commission a timeline of address activity, a statement of which links are verified, and a clear list of what remains unknown. That file can sit inside their own case. It does not identify a suspect by itself, and it is not a charging decision. BNG SOFTWARE does not represent the state and does not run a prosecution.
Why a recovery pitch that names the scammer is a warning
A message claiming the seller already knows the thief's identity, and that a fee will unlock the funds, is a recognised pattern of secondary fraud. A legitimate review talks about addresses and evidence grades first. See How to Avoid Fake Cryptocurrency Recovery Companies.
For funds: when the question is internal
A fund asking who took the assets may be looking at an outside hack or at an internal transfer. On-chain work can show which keys moved value and toward which destinations. Naming an employee or a counterparty as a legal conclusion is for the company's own investigators and counsel, using evidence beyond the ledger.
What still has to come from outside the chain
Account-holder information, a formal legal request, device evidence, banking records, or a statement from the person involved are all off-chain material. Gathering them is the work of counsel, authorities, or other professionals under their own rules. A tracing engagement produces the ledger chapter of that story and states clearly where it ends.
Frequently asked questions
Can BNG SOFTWARE tell me the name behind an address?
Not as a promised output. The company can report address activity and any supported link to a known service. A legal name generally requires off-chain records and a lawful route to them.
If the funds are at an exchange, will the exchange tell me the customer name?
Only if it chooses to, or if it is required to by a process that applies to it. Many services will not disclose a customer to a private complainant.
Is a cluster of addresses the same as one person?
A cluster is an analytical grouping. It can be useful and it can be wrong. A careful report labels it as analysis, not as an identified individual.
Can I use a report in court to prove identity?
A report may help a lawyer explain the transactions. Whether it proves identity is for the court and the rest of the evidence. BNG SOFTWARE does not decide that.
Do you need my passport or my seed phrase to try?
A seed phrase is never required for this question, and you should not send one. Identity documents are not part of ordinary tracing. If a later engagement needs a particular record, it will be specified in writing.
